As director of Summit Academy :: Columbus Schools, it is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to the our website!

This site has been created to assist all of our stakeholders --students, families, staff, and community to maintain an open line of communication. Our mission of providing a therapeutic educational program that is constantly meeting our students' emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs is of the utmost importance.

Our staff is committed and has a strong belief that every child can and will learn. Summit Academy :: Columbus is organized into interdisciplinary teams (primary, intermediate, middle and secondary) to help personalize education and to provide a sense of community and belonging. Each team is composed of age appropriate patrols consisting of a maximum of 15 students each, one certified teacher, and one support staff plus additional staff that specialize in specific areas (i.e. Martial Arts, Fine Arts, Title I, Speech, Behavioral Intervention and Occupational Therapy).

The Summit Academy :: Columbus team is focused on helping students achieve to the best of their abilities. A strong instructional foundation based on the Ohio Academic Content Standards (ACS) provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to progress through school. The ACS are what the teachers teach, and what the students learn. As we go about the business of learning, the other needs of our students are not forgotten. We strive to create a caring and collaborative spirit within our school environment.

Continuous Improvement is the driving force at Summit Academy :: Columbus. Each year our teacher teams identify a Local School Improvement Goal, always looking for ways to get better at what we do. Our parents and community provide strong support for our endeavors and complete the Summit Academy :: Columbus community.

It is my hope, that as you navigate through our site you are able to determine who we are, and what we stand for. Everything we do, here at Summit Academy :: Columbus, is about student success
and achievement.
